2024 begins with a major announcement . . .
Porter County RTL and LaPorte County RTL
have merged into one unified group and will be doing business as
RTL of Northwest Indiana, (RTLNWI)
This collaboration will join efforts and action in our dedication to the restoration and protection of the right to life. As one of Indiana’s influential pro-life groups, this merger will lead to improved synergies in support of our mission to protect life at every stage, from conception to natural death.
In addition to the merger, we are announcing the hiring of our new RTLNWI Executive Director, Irma Schroeder. Irma was carefully selected to assist the group as the executive director. She is committed to our mission and has a very diverse background which includes working with local nonprofits, teaching, volunteering, and administrative experience. She is a Purdue University alumnus who initially studied to become a Special Education Teacher, but ended up working for the United States Postal Service for over 28 years. Upon retirement she returned to school, focusing on Liberal Studies, minoring in Human Resources. She has extensive experience working as a Social Media Organizer for businesses in Michigan City, IN. Irma will work on a part-time basis. Please feel free to reach out to her at any time in support of the success of this merger.
The City of La Porte is receiving Indiana’s 119th Safe Haven Baby Box. La Porte Fire Station #2 is inviting the community to attend the blessing of their Safe Haven Baby Box on April 11.
La Porte Fire Chief, Andy Snyder stated, “Installing a Safe Haven Baby Box has been a goal of our department for quite some time now, and we are so glad to finally have this incredible resource in our community. We are very grateful to the family of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski for their contribution to and support of this project in her memory. Thanks to them, we can now rest assured that mothers in need throughout our community have a place to turn to.”
“Paul’s Construction aided the mission by installing the Baby Box pro bono,” Safe Haven Baby Box said in a press release. “Indiana Department of Homeland Security majorly funded the project with assistance from Impact International Inc. and the Walorski Family.”
Mayor Tom Dermody shared, “Fire Chief Andy Snyder and his team have worked diligently to bring this very important resource to our community. This box has the potential to save and change many lives in our community over the next several years, and we are proud to join the growing movement across the country to provide a Safe Haven for mothers and babies in need.”
“When the door of the Baby Box opens a silent alarm sounds alerting first responders, along with when the infant is placed in the bassinet, and when the door shuts, automatically locking, according to Safe Haven Baby Boxes. “The infant will immediately be transported to the hospital for medical evaluation and the baby will be with their adoptive family soon.”
In addition to the Baby Boxes, the organization confidentiality aids women in crisis with their National Hotline, 1-866-99BABY1, which has assisted with over 140 surrenders. Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas have a Baby Box presence within their state.

Women deserve to know that chemical abortions are not a safe and easy option; pro-life OB-GYN
By Lisa Bourne
The day after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling Dr. Christina Francis’s phone blew up with text messages while she was doing rounds.
She thought it was people rejoicing over the fall of Roe, but friends, family and colleagues were all wondering whether what they were hearing was true – Would physicians now be unable to treat things like ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages in states that had banned abortions? Was it true that women would die now because they couldn’t receive life-saving medical care?
“I mean over and over and over all day long I was getting these text messages and was so frustrated by the amount of misinformation that was making the rounds,” Francis said.
Francis is an MD, CEO-Elect of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians & Gynecologists (AAPLOG), and a provider with the Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN). Her presentation was “Debunking the Myths of Chemical Abortion.”
